| Call me an old fart. I am in fact. But I always come back to the 91 anthem, Clivelleeees & Cole "Deeper Love" mixed really fucking hard. I played it for Maximus Drop Off Nonius, merely 6 months old today, and he loved it... |

RMB feat. Talla 2XLC - Spring 2003 Trance Allstars (basically Talla, Schiller, ATB) - Go
Actually, most of the trance this guy whips up or mixes is pretty awesome... Talla 2XLC
My favorite though, is probably Robert Miles - Children (in the Dream Version, preferably).
Actually, these are all Trance... not Dance... hm.. okay... sorry about that. |

Trance is the only decent dance music...
I'm going to go insane if I don't upload some for you guys soon. At least Gouryella (sadly a very gay version) is on-line for high b/w download:

You might very well think that, I couldn't possibly comment. |

I thought this thread was DANCE ANTHEMS, not favorite gay-ass trance tunes . . .
Classic ragers that are guaranteed to pack the floor, no matter what kind of club. Songs that have been remixed a million times, but ALL the mixes are good so you don't have to find the needle inthe haystack.
Here are a few examples:
Planet Rock / Afrika Bambaata and Soulsonic Force James Brown is Dead / LA Styles The Bomb! / Bucketheads Billie Jean / Michael Jackson Breakers Revenge / Arthur Baker I'll House You / Jungle Brothers White Lines / Grandmaster Flash
While not necessarily what I listen to on the headphones, these are the kind of tracks that will blow up virtually any dance floor if used correctly. If you drop too many of these all together, you risk sounding cheesy. But if you can't tear up the club with one of these tracks, then you really don't belong behind the decks. |

I'd add "White Horse" to that list. I heard Doc Martin drop that once at Twilo and I had an out of body experience.
But yes, especially your first and last ones on the list.......
oh, and, speaking of "classics" I've also wanted to hear a remix of "Rockit" for dancefloor purposes.
By they way, I vaguely remember posting this thread yesterday. |

oh, and if we are on oldie sheah, I would like to hear an evil, that is more evil, remix of this...
Talking Heads Once in a Lifetime (1984) Once In A Lifetime
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack And you may find yourself in another part of the world And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here?
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/after the money's gone Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
And you may ask yourself How do I work this? And you may ask yourself Where is that large automobile? And you may tell yourself This is not my beautiful house! And you may tell yourself This is not my beautiful wife!
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/after the money's gone Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was... Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was... Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Water dissolving...and water removing There is water at the bottom of the ocean Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/in the silent water Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/after the money's gone Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
And you may ask yourself What is that beautiful house? And you may ask yourself Where does that highway go? And you may ask yourself Am I right?...Am I wrong? And you may tell yourself MY GOD!...WHAT HAVE I DONE?
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/in the silent water Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/after the money's gone Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Oh hell yeah ... Once in a Lifetime is a great song.
Anyone ever see Stop Making Sense, their concert video? I saw it in a beautiful old theatre when the film was rereleased after being remastered. I don't know if it was the remastered audio signal or the acoustics in the building but I've never heard anything so clear.
I think the Talking Heads are like the front band for traders, or 80's excess... From Wild Life: "Heading down to the stock exchange - oh oh - Its a Wild Wild Life." That and the "Home" sequence in the movie Wall Street. That fit perfect. Good stuff. |

Yeah, I saw that, it was a classic. The Heads of course are on the comeback at least in the sense that some dudes are playing their old tunes in bars and clubs. David Byrne did a sort of catchy club tune with some London djs (Ashley Beedle) called "Lazy" last year.
I'd like to hear Jab drop "Once in a Lifetime" on the NP dancefloor man....but with the phucking eqs on the bass knobs kicked up a phew notches.
the remix I have in my head would have about a 5 minute overature with the "ba ba bump bump" sheah. It would have a few "ba ba bump bumps" missing here and there about every random stopping time....just to tease the audience. Actually, I sort of "visualize" the re-mix as creeping up on you and then, BOOM...
actually, you could put the cross fader in the middle, loop on the ba ba bump bump shit, and have another pretty standard 4-4 beat going on the other deck.....that would be pretty easy |

or, if your mixer had a lot of, what do they call it? tonal seperation capability....then, on one deck you got the ba ba bump bump looped BUT, you basically turn off all of the higher frequencies...Just to get this deep thundering bassy ba ba bump bump going. On the other deck you got some kitchy tune going, maybe Borderline by Madonna....with all of its bass turned off.
I recall that's an old mixing trick, but I was never really good at mixing the bass on one with the treble on the other deck. |

| actually, now that I think about it, I think I'd want the ba ba bump bump looped with only the bass on the left deck and some James Brown, just his voice and maybe some horns, on the right deck....that would be cool. |

<<then, no ba ba bump bump but rather horns going DA DA DA in Brownesque fashion>>
then...

Hey, my list was not meant to be exhaustive, just to kick things off. I'm sure there are at least a hundred songs that I would put up there.
Rockit: There is an all scratching mix, kind of a scratching homage to the original. I don't know of any true dancefloor mixes though.
Once in a Lifetime: Got to admit I have not listend to it in a long time. However, as I recall it, you are going to need to push up the tempo a bit and probably cut it up with a lot of phrase sampling over some other beats, maybe with a build up to where you drop the full chorus.
Mixing the freq. filtered tracks on two channels is not that hard if you remember a little trick. Many people screw it up because they are used to beat matching the kick drums or the snare drums. But when you eq one track for all bass and another for all treble, you need to beat match the bassline on one with the lead on the other (usually either keys or vocals on most dance tracks). |

I am really annoyed at DAX. I gotta admit Happy Hardcore - Dunes is a very, very, likeable mix. |

| i recommend either a bozak or an urei. urei is better for house, bozak for classics. bozaks are hard to get hold of in good condition as they aren't made anymore but you can pick them up second hand for around $1500. |

bozak hmmm...I'll look it up.
hmmm...I don't know all the best mixers. I had a djm500 for personal use with those Pioneer cd players (I recall they were the 100s). My ex trashed them. Oh, I have ONE technics 1210 deck, never been used. I bought ONE, thinking I'd by the other one later. shit, what a waste.
anyway, I'd love to fuk around with that sheah again, but, it ain't the best hobby for a family man, unless you have a 2000 square foot den/personal office in your apartment. |

I've always had a penchant for David Morales' "Needin' u".
Has your Wicked and Lazy anthem drop off the charts? |

Probably, "anthems" come and go in a flash, but what I like about listening to a dj spin is that if he is good, then he can take something like that tune and warp it, mix it, and turn it on it's back so it sounds almost like a new song, but maybe with an evil undertone.
I guess same goes for just a remix, but I like to see dudes doing weird sheah live. Like last night....man, this dude was doing some funky sheah. He dropped about 4 michael jackson tunes but they were imbued with some really heavy and fast basslines. |
