"after the trade is made" is about operations and settlement. Possibly not exactly what you're after.

Nonius, yes.

I actually read Duffie's "How Big Banks Fail" and I was looking for something to compare some of the details of financing and management to. And also to help me fall asleep at a reasonable hour.

Leftic, that book looks pretty old (20 years). Was looking more for something describing the business details of a JPM or something like that. Treasury/Finance/etc...

Moorad Choudhry's last book (The Principles of Banking) sounds like it might be a good fit for what you're looking for.

Well, in general I would say that large multinational banks are run badly.

The game plan up until the GFC was minimal funding of functions like Finance and Treasury and Risk so that the revenue generators could pay themselves big bonuses. That obviously ended badly and things are somewhat reversing. However, there is now not much money around to put the right infrastructure in place and sort out the problems.

You could read The Partnership about the least-worst operator - if not the most ethical. Or possibly Fools Gold on JPM. Even better would be Red Blooded Risk by Aaron which is probably the best.
