What is involved in delta one trading in a bank?

Does anyone have any insight on what these desks do and the sorts of people that work on them (ie backgrounds/skills)?

a Delta1 trader is at the heart of an IB. They pretty much do everything. ETFs, Index, Certificates, custom baskets, TRS vs Futures vs Cash arb. They work with many desks and its a great place to be in a bank. Assuming you are on a desk which knows what its doing. The whole 9 yards.

What sort of subdivisions/books are there within a delta one desk and what sort of things would the trader manage?

1/ Financing
2/ Borrow/Loan
3/ Special situations (M&A, dividend arbitrages, index arbitrages, ...)

Low risk, huge volume => big profit center

Some famous traders in the press.
