I'm looking at quant hedge funds in NYC (that is, funds which primarily implement auto quant strats/systematic strategies/algorithmic straggles, not necessarily market makers, examples include DE Shaw, RenTec, etc), but with a twist: I'm interested in smaller, newer shops (say founded in the last 5 years and still alive). I know that there's a high rate of failure, but I thought this would give me an opportunity to learn a lot.

So, basically, can we start a list of small (lets say, currently has ~150 or fewer employees) and recently founded (lets say, since around 2012 or so) quant shops in the NYC area? (If you know other areas, that's fine too, but mostly interested in NYC for now).

Any info you can provide on how the firm was started, etc, is helpful (e.g., ex-Bridgewater team, etc.).

Thanks!

Hm, possibly, hadn't realized that to be the case. Hopefully the recency + in NYC will help whittle the list down a bit?
