In discussion with ronin about algo he made a notion about the necessity of speed. The joke about "old bull and young calf" explains it well.

Other two I read from Neil Gaiman "American Gods".

One is called "Fiddle game" and involves 5$ violine which is sold for 9000$.

Another one less elegant and is called "bishop". The juwellier sells perl necklace for real money. Later fake policeman takes all three, "bishop", money and necklace, as crime evidence.

Nice pieces.

Movie "Con artist" ("Bluff") with Celentano is just one continuous series of tricks.
